I've always had kind of a "thing" for steampunk, although I only recently found out that's what it's called... 8-p

I got excited about the idea of building a set of brass goggles a couple of days ago, so I dusted off the metal lathe, dug out the glass circle cutter, and bought a chunk of 2" brass rod to play with. In spite of my best efforts to screw it up, here's what I've come up with so far:

There's a lens cut out of window glass installed in a recess cut in the underside of the top piece of brass. The bottom piece of brass has been hollowed out as much as possible to reduce weight. Next, I need to drill and tap some screw holes around the perimeter of the lens and fasten the two pieces together.
